Kayden M. Jabara Obituary, OCONEE COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — Kayden M. Jabara, 19, of Hoschton, Georgia, has tragically died following an accidental drowning at Lake Hartwell in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 4. Authorities confirmed that the young man was recovered after an extensive search operation near the Harts Cove Apartments area of the lake.
According to emergency officials, Oconee 911 Communications received distress calls at approximately 2:36 a.m. reporting a water-related emergency near the shoreline. First responders were immediately dispatched to the scene as residents in the area reported emergency lights and activity along the lakeside.
A coordinated search and rescue effort was launched shortly after the call, involving multiple emergency personnel and water rescue teams. After several hours of searching, Kayden M. Jabara was located at approximately 8:10 a.m. in about 17 feet of water, roughly 60 feet from the shoreline.
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office arrived on scene at approximately 8:20 a.m. and later confirmed that Kayden had died as a result of drowning. Officials ruled the manner of death as accidental following their initial assessment.
Investigators stated that Kayden had been swimming with friends during the early hours of the holiday weekend when the incident occurred. What began as a gathering among young people enjoying Independence Day festivities quickly turned into a devastating emergency.
