Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow and David Page Obituary, WILSON, WYOMING — Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow and David Page have died following a tragic multi-vehicle crash on Teton Pass that left two people dead and four others injured on Tuesday. Authorities said the collision occurred after a dump truck carrying asphalt experienced brake failure while traveling down Highway 22.
According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s preliminary investigation, the eastbound dump truck lost control shortly before noon near the Wyoming Department of Transportation sand shed and Trail Creek Ranch above Wilson. The truck struck a motorcycle, two pickup trucks, a Subaru, and another vehicle before overturning and coming to rest on its side.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find multiple damaged vehicles, a large portion of the roadway blocked, and asphalt spilled across the highway. Officials said two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while four other individuals were transported to St. John’s Health with minor to moderate injuries.
The Teton County Coroner’s Office identified one of the victims as David Page, 57, of Mammoth Lakes, California. Page was a respected writer, producer, backcountry traveler, and conservation advocate who served as director of the Winter Wildlands Alliance. He was also known for his dedication to outdoor recreation and protecting public lands.
The second victim was identified as Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow, 66, of Tetonia, Idaho. Besobrasow was the founder of Alupka Asset Management in Driggs and spent more than three decades helping clients achieve their financial goals. His career included experience with major Wall Street firms and management of the Alupka Absolute Return Fund.
The crash prompted a major emergency response involving Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Teton County Sheriff’s Office, Teton County Emergency Management, Jackson Police Department, St. John’s Medical Center, and other agencies. Highway 22 remained closed for several hours as crews worked to investigate the crash, recover vehicles, and manage the scene.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officials said the preliminary findings indicate brake failure was a contributing factor, and further details may be released as the investigation progresses.
Nicholas “Nick” Besobrasow and David Page will be remembered by their families, friends, colleagues, and communities for the lives they touched and the contributions they made. Their passing has brought grief to many who knew them, and heartfelt condolences go out to their loved ones during this difficult time. May they rest in peace.
