Ham Lake Car Accident, HAM LAKE, MINN. — Authorities are investigating a serious two-vehicle crash in Ham Lake that left four people injured, including a juvenile driver who was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition following a head-on collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 3:36 p.m. on Monday to the intersection of Crosstown Boulevard Northeast and Vickers Street Northeast after reports of a severe crash involving multiple injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate that a sedan traveling westbound on Crosstown Boulevard Northeast crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation and entered the path of an eastbound pickup truck. The two vehicles collided head-on, causing significant damage to both.
Authorities said the juvenile male driving the sedan sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted from the scene to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition under medical care. Two juvenile passengers in the sedan were also injured and transported for evaluation and treatment, with officials reporting their conditions as stable.
The driver of the pickup truck was also injured and taken to a local hospital. Officials stated that the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including deputies, fire departments, medical personnel, and air ambulance crews, worked to stabilize victims at the scene, assist with extrication efforts, and manage traffic in the heavily affected area. Both vehicles were severely damaged and required removal by tow crews after investigators completed their on-scene documentation.
The intersection remained partially closed for an extended period while authorities conducted their investigation and cleared debris from the roadway. Motorists were advised to avoid the area until operations were completed and traffic flow was restored.
Investigators have not yet determined why the sedan crossed the center line. Officials are continuing to examine all factors that may have contributed to the crash, including road conditions and vehicle movement leading up to the collision. No determinations have been made regarding impairment or distraction.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to come forward as they work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision. Additional updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
