Paul Farrow Obituary, WAUKESHA, WISCONSIN — Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow, a longtime public servant and dedicated leader, has died after a lengthy battle with cancer. The Waukesha County Executive’s Office announced that Farrow passed away Wednesday at the age of 61 with his wife by his side, marking the end of a distinguished career devoted to serving the residents of Waukesha County.
Farrow had served as Waukesha County Executive since 2015, earning widespread respect for his leadership and commitment to the community. Before taking the county’s highest executive office, he represented Wisconsin in both the State Assembly and State Senate, where he also served as Senate Assistant Majority Leader. He later chaired the Republican Party of Wisconsin from 2021 to 2022. In 2024, Farrow publicly revealed that he had been diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma, a rare form of cancer, and chose to share parts of his treatment journey in hopes of encouraging others facing similar challenges.
In announcing his passing, county officials described Farrow as a proud champion for Waukesha County who fought his illness with determination and optimism. They noted that he remained dedicated to his public responsibilities throughout his battle and was admired by colleagues, staff, and residents alike for his unwavering commitment to the community. Family members have not yet announced details for a public memorial service.
Following Farrow’s death, County Board Chairman Jim Heinrich has temporarily assumed the responsibilities of Acting County Executive. County officials said he will continue in that capacity until the County Board confirms an interim appointment. A countywide special election is expected to be held in the coming months to choose a permanent officeholder for the remainder of the term.
Tributes have continued to pour in from public officials, colleagues, and residents who remembered Farrow not only as a respected leader but also as a kind and compassionate individual. Many described him as someone whose warmth, humor, and dedication left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Paul Farrow leaves behind a legacy of public service spanning more than a decade in county leadership and many years in Wisconsin state government. As his family, friends, and the Waukesha County community mourn his passing, he is remembered for his steadfast leadership, resilience, and genuine care for those he served. May he rest in peace.
