Inez Pryor Obituary, SHREVEPORT, LOUISIANA — A tragic electric bicycle crash in Shreveport claimed the life of Inez Pryor and left a male rider in critical condition on Wednesday morning, July 8, 2026, according to the Shreveport Police Department.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Lillian Street, where police responded to reports of a serious traffic accident involving an electric bicycle and a white 2004 Chevrolet Express van. When officers arrived, they found the heavily damaged E-bike and its two riders lying in the roadway with severe injuries. Emergency crews from the Shreveport Fire Department transported both victims to Ochsner LSU Health for emergency treatment.
Despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Inez Pryor later died from her injuries. The male operator of the electric bicycle remains hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of Pryor’s body.
According to preliminary findings from the Shreveport Police Crash Investigation Unit, the Chevrolet Express van was traveling eastbound on Lillian Street and stopped at the posted stop sign before entering the intersection with Alabama Avenue. The van’s driver told investigators that after entering the intersection, the vehicle was struck near the driver’s-side rear tire by the southbound electric bicycle. Witnesses at the scene reported that the two riders were traveling south on Alabama Avenue when the van entered their path, and police said those statements were consistent with the sequence of events described during the investigation.
Authorities also determined that neither rider was wearing a helmet or other protective safety equipment at the time of the crash. Investigators further reported that the electric bicycle was not equipped with lights or reflectors, factors that are being considered as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police said the driver of the Chevrolet Express remained at the scene following the collision and fully cooperated with investigators. The driver voluntarily submitted to a blood draw at Ochsner LSU Health, and the sample has been forwarded to the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis. As of now, no citations have been issued, and officials emphasized that the investigation remains active while evidence is reviewed, witness statements are analyzed, and laboratory results are pending.
The death of Inez Pryor has saddened her community as family, friends, and loved ones mourn her passing. She will be remembered by those who knew her, while prayers continue for the injured rider as he fights to recover. May she rest in peace.
