Dquarious Butler Obituary: Mississippi Family of Three Killed in Fatal I-59 Crash in Trussville

Dquarious Butler Obituary, TRUSSVILLE, ALABAMA — A heartbreaking crash on Interstate 59 North in Trussville, Alabama, claimed the lives of a Mississippi husband, wife, and their young daughter on Tuesday morning, leaving a community in mourning and three surviving children hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 29-year-old Dquarious Marqua Butler, 32-year-old Dominque Mariona Butler, and their 5-year-old daughter, Nailani Butler, all of Liberty, Mississippi. Authorities confirmed the family was traveling together when the fatal collision occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Dquarious Butler was driving a commercial tractor-trailer northbound on Interstate 59 when the vehicle collided with another tractor-trailer inside an Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) construction zone. The impact caused catastrophic damage to the family’s truck, resulting in fatal injuries.

Officials said Dquarious Butler and 5-year-old Nailani Butler were pronounced dead at the scene. Dominque Mariona Butler was transported by emergency responders to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that all three victims were members of the same family from Liberty, Mississippi.

Three additional children, who are immediate family members of the victims, survived the collision and were transported to Children’s of Alabama for medical treatment. Authorities have not released the children’s ages or provided updates on their medical conditions.

The devastating crash forced the closure of the northbound lanes of Interstate 59 for several hours while emergency crews worked to rescue victims, clear the wreckage, and conduct an on-scene investigation. Responding agencies included Trussville Fire and Rescue, the Center Point Fire District, and troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. According to Trussville Fire Chief Tim Shotts, the interstate reopened shortly after noon once investigators completed their work.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision, including the sequence of events that led to the crash within the highway construction zone. Officials have not released additional information about the second tractor-trailer involved, and no charges have been announced as the investigation remains active.

The tragic loss of Dquarious Butler, Dominque Butler, and young Nailani Butler has left family members, friends, and their Liberty, Mississippi, community grieving an unimaginable loss.
