Caleb Oswald Obituary, LAKE GENEVA, WI — Six-year-old Caleb Oswald of Wheaton, Illinois, has died alongside his 7-year-old sister, Abigail Oswald, following a tragic boating accident on Lake Geneva during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The siblings were among three children killed after a boat capsized Friday afternoon during severe storms in Walworth County, Wisconsin.
The Oswald family identified Caleb and Abigail following the heartbreaking incident and described the two siblings as best friends who shared a close bond and brought joy to those around them. Their family said the children were deeply loved by their parents, relatives, teachers, friends, and everyone who had the opportunity to know them.
According to the family’s memorial fundraiser, Caleb was known for his love of trucks, music, and his dream of someday working at Chick-fil-A. His family remembered him as a child who found happiness in simple moments, often singing and dancing to his favorite songs and filling their home with laughter and excitement.
Abigail was remembered as a kind and joyful child who loved swimming and dancing. Her family said she had a quick sense of humor, a big heart for others, and dreamed of becoming a teacher so she could help children learn and grow.
The accident happened as a powerful storm system moved through Walworth County, bringing dangerous conditions and strong winds reported to be between 90 and 100 mph. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the boat capsizing. A third child, a 10-year-old, was also killed in the incident and has not been publicly identified.
In memory of Caleb and Abigail, the Oswald family established a fundraiser to support a children’s charity. The family has said they will not keep the donations but instead hopes the funds will help children and families in need while continuing the siblings’ legacy of kindness, compassion, and hope.
Caleb and Abigail Oswald will be remembered for the love, laughter, and happiness they brought to their family and community. Their memory will continue through the lives touched by their kindness and the charitable efforts created in their honor. May he rest in peace.
