Isaiah Kooiman Obituary, MUSKEGON, Mich. — A tragic single-vehicle crash in rural Muskegon County claimed the life of 22-year-old Isaiah Kooiman during the early morning hours of Thursday, July 2, leaving family and friends devastated by his sudden passing.
According to the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported shortly after midnight along East River Road between Ewing Road and Holton-Duck Lake Road in Cedar Creek Township. Deputies responded to the scene following reports of a serious collision in the area.
When authorities arrived, they located a heavily damaged pickup truck near a curve in the roadway. Investigators determined that the vehicle had left the roadway for reasons still under review before rolling over multiple times.
Isaiah Kooiman, who was identified as the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, was found inside the wreckage. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but he was pronounced dead at the location due to the severity of his injuries.
Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that speed may have been a contributing factor in the crash. Officials say crash reconstruction teams continue to examine physical evidence, the vehicle, and other available information to determine the exact sequence of events.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to come forward as they work to fully understand what led to the fatal rollover.
Isaiah Kooiman’s passing has left a deep sense of loss among those who knew him, as loved ones mourn the loss of a young life with so much potential. His death has also served as a painful reminder of the dangers of roadway crashes and the importance of safe driving.
