Coquitlam Fire Today, COQUITLAM, BRITISH COLUMBIA — One person has died and two others were injured following a devastating house fire that tore through multiple homes in the Maillardville neighborhood of Coquitlam on Tuesday morning, leaving families displaced and the community mourning a tragic loss.

Emergency crews responded shortly after 9 a.m. following numerous 911 calls reporting a fast-moving structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found three homes, including a duplex, fully engulfed in flames and heavy smoke. Firefighters launched an aggressive response to contain the blaze, successfully preventing it from spreading to additional nearby properties despite the intensity of the fire.

During search operations, emergency responders discovered one deceased individual inside one of the affected homes after witnesses reported that a resident had not been accounted for. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin. The tragedy has left neighbors, friends, and the wider Coquitlam community grieving the heartbreaking loss.

Two people were also injured during the emergency. An 18-year-old was treated at the scene for injuries sustained during the incident, while a member of the Coquitlam RCMP was transported to a local hospital after suffering smoke inhalation while assisting with the emergency response.
