Tyler Hill Obituary, MATTHEWS, NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities have identified the man killed in a multi-vehicle crash on July 1, 2026, as 40-year-old Jonathan Tyler Hill of Monroe, North Carolina. The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of East John Street and McKee Road and involved four vehicles, including a motorcycle.
According to a media release from the Matthews Police Department, officers responded to the scene at approximately 9:34 p.m. after reports of a serious crash with injuries. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a four-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle with the driver suffering critical injuries.
Matthews Fire & EMS personnel immediately began life-saving efforts on Hill, who was found unconscious at the scene. Despite emergency intervention, he was later pronounced deceased at the location of the crash.
Authorities confirmed that one additional person sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. No further details regarding the other vehicles or individuals involved have been released at this time.
East John Street was temporarily closed between McKee Road and I-485 following the crash at approximately 9:40 p.m., remaining shut down for several hours while investigators processed the scene. The roadway was reopened at approximately 1:07 a.m. on July 2, 2026.
