LAKE GENEVA BOATING ACCIDENT: Officials Release Details After Three Children Die During Fourth of July Weekend Tragedy

LAKE GENEVA BOATING ACCIDENT, LAKE GENEVA, WISCONSIN — Officials have released new details surrounding the deadly boating accident on Lake Geneva that claimed the lives of three children during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

According to the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency, a 25-foot 2024 Nautique P25 vessel was being operated by a 47-year-old experienced boater when the incident occurred. Authorities said the vessel was on the water while attempting to seek “safe refuge” during dangerous conditions.

Officials said the operator was unable to locate safe harbor and relied on his boating training and experience while navigating the vessel directly into the wind. The boat was then struck by multiple large waves, causing water to break over the bow and enter the vessel.

The agency reported that the vessel began taking on a significant amount of water and started listing to one side. Shortly afterward, another large wave struck the side of the boat, causing it to roll over and capsize, sending all 10 occupants into the water.

Authorities said the vessel quickly sank below the waterline after capsizing. The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of three children, while emergency crews responded to the scene and assisted those involved.

Officials continue to review the circumstances surrounding the accident as part of the ongoing investigation. Additional details regarding the victims and the events leading up to the tragedy are expected as authorities complete their review.

The community continues to mourn the loss of the children whose lives were tragically cut short in the boating accident. May they rest in peace.
